Hin faani jismaani ghar men mehaz bani mehmaan o banda;
Hin faani jismaani ghar men suraj jo saamaan o banda. Hin faani jismaani ghar men karan sikhen abhimaan o banda; Hin faani jismaani ghar men visreo ee aad makaan o banda. Hin faani jismaani ghar men rehnde so ghar keen visaar; Kaal na kaay maut na mare so ghar dekhare avtar. |

O' man, in this house of human body, you are only a guest;
O' man, in this house of human body, everything may produce thorns. O' man, in this house of human body, you learn only to be proud; O' man, in this house of human body, you forget the place from where you come. O' man, in this house of human body, why do you forget the eternal abode? Avtar says, this abode which is beyond time and death, is shown by the True Master. |
Meaning
This verse explains that this human birth is full of pain if one does not know the real home of the soul with the help of the True Master. The soul lives only as a guest in this human body. The human body has everything that may give you pain only. The soul learns to be proud and full of ego while in this body. The soul has forgotten the real home while living in this body. Here Baba Avtar Singh ji says, do not forget your real home while you are in this human body. Come seek the real home in which you will live forever.
